The Ochepovsky Project is one of the greatest discoveries of the Czech jazz and alternative scene. Music composer and guitarist Igor Ochepovsky surrounds himself with excellent musicians of a wide range of genres and together they create original and eclectic music mixing jazz, neo soul, hip hop and pop.
The Ochepovsky Project originated in 2016 as a solo project of the Uralic born Igor Ochepovsky. Gradually, he has been joined by a line-up of excellent Czech musicians and today the stable cast of the project includes cellist Šimon Marek, trumpet player Miroslav Hloucal, saxophonist and clarinetist Petr Kalfus, keyboard player Jan Aleš, bass guitarist Ondřej Hauser and drummer Michal “Kolouch” Daněk.
In 2016, the album I’m the Wind came out, and, three years later, the Ochepovsky Project followed it with a sophisticated seven-song live EP Take Care of Me.
The formation, which moves between genres with lightness and subtlety, won the Jazz Fruit competition in 2016. Apart from the Czech stages, they have had numerous successes abroad as well, with concerts in Germany, Poland or Slovakia.
Since 2021, the Turkish singer ILÆY has been performing with the band.
Igor Ochepovsky is a sought-after composer, guitarist and producer who collaborates with important artists from the Czech alternative and pop scene, namely, for example, with Ewa Farna, David Koller, Lenka Dusilová, 7krát3, Vesna, ILÆY or Klára Vytisková. Ochepovsky is an author of music for theater, film or computer games and a coveted music production tutor.
